A grade teak.

A grade teak is rich of natural teak oil, make the timber weather and insect resistant.
A grade teak is processed from mature teak logs.
Most of the teak tree has been more than 50 years of age.
In Indonesia, A grade teak can only be found by processing Perhutani teak, not from others plantation.
Perhutani teak mostly is planted in limestone area.
Since the soil is unfertile and dry, it makes the trees grow slowly.
In 30-40 years, Perhutani teak trees can only reach 20-30 cm in diameter.
To reach diameter 40 cm up, the trees need more than 50 years to grow.
This slow growing process makes Perhutani teak trees have more density compare with teak from others plantation.
Before harvesting, Perhutani normally will cut the outer ring of the trees root to make it dry standing for 1-2 years. This process is called by “TERES “.
During this process, most of the water contain will be dry out. The result is dense, less sapwood and stable logs.
TERES is good for long storage since wet logs will be easy to crack.
The above features make A grade teak has the highest pricing level compare with others.
Before production A grade teak timber will be kiln dry to reach MC below 12 % .
This drying process will make the timber event more stable.
After production the MC normally will rise between 12-15%. It is because Indonesia is tropical country and the environmental humidity is quite high.

“ JATI KAMPUNG ( Kampung Teak ) ” or “JATI EMAS ( Golden Teak ) ”.
Jati kampung and Jati emas is commonly planted in village or private plantation area.

Jati kampung / Jati emas can grow in 30 cm diameter only in 10-15 years.

Jati kampung and Jati emas is normally harvested by cutting it fresh without any teres.
